The traditional style of the Air Jordan 4 Retro "University Blue" draws inspiration from Michael Jordan's collegiate years. The shoe's upper is made of suede and is mostly colored University Blue. The heel overlay and traditional wings have cement decoration. The tongue tag on the bottom hem of Jordan jerseys is made to resemble a jock tag, and tonal mesh inserts appear at the vamp and quarter panel. Cushioning is provided via visible air in the heel of the speckled midsole.
